Book Review Feb. 4

Beautifully Damaged by: :L.A. Fiore

4Stars

Blurb: Ember Walsh was always the quiet one, enjoying a book and a glass of wine over the noise and crowds of a club, but when her best friend asks her to come out and meet the boy she likes Ember's world is turned upside down. He appears like a mythical avenging angel, inked, gorgeous and completely out of her league but one look and Ember no longer wants the quiet, she wants him.

Trace Montgomery has buried his damaged past with women and fighting until one day he meets an angel and suddenly he wants more, he wants her. For her, he's determined to overcome his demons but will the dark secret that links their pasts bring them closer or will it tear them apart.

I really should have written this review last night when I finished the book. I just don't have as much to say about it now. This book takes on a very similar aspect to many others, young college student meets troubled guy covered in tattoos that loves to fight... Sound familiar (Taking Chances, Beautiful Disaster etc...).

Trace have a very 'Christian Grey' personality, not in the whips and chains sort of way. But that annoying self-preservation aspect where he pushes people away and thinks he's not good enough becasue of his 'damaged past.' Honestly I wanna start seeing guys who overcome their past and don't let it dictate their futures.

Ember has to fight so hard for what she wants. Though, the struggle was worth it in the end, I doubt I would have  stayed as long as she did, especially considering one of the ways he tries to push her away... (Aghhh, men can be soo maddening, even in books!!!)

As a sucker for romantic suspense, that element of the story really saved it for me. Though this element does not come into play until the last half of the story, I thought it was worked in well and had me puzzled till the end.

Worst part of the story: her so-called friend Lana. What a trip she was. Unfortunately, we all have had friends in our lives that at some point we just have to let go. It's unhealthy for us to keep them in our lives. Lana, however, takes the cake and is not only an unhealthy, soul-sucking venomous snake she lacks any sort of conscious and truly only thinks about herself.  Considering the drama between Lana and her BF, I was assuming some sort of show-down would occur or at the very least with the BF's brother. But alas, certain aspects were left open. Pehaps for another book??? Would love to see Lucien's story, hint hint *_*

If your looking for your next angsty bad-boy, look no further, Beautifully Damaged certainly delivers!!!
